The Recruitment & Employment Confederation’s (REC) Marketing, Media and Creative sector group provides specialist support and advice to recruitment agencies working in the marketing, media and creative sectors.
We are working hard to forge links across industry and government, making the REC Marketing, Media and Creative sector group the recognised voice of marketing and media recruiters in the UK.
This sector group provides specialist support and advice to agencies who work in all areas of the marketing, media and creative sectors.
This includes: advertising, communications, creative, design, desktop publishing, graphic design, journalism, market research, marketing, media, public relations, films and TV, interior design, new media, event management, web design and audiovisual.
The UK’s creative industries accounted for around 1.71m jobs in 2013, 5.6 per cent of total UK jobs which was a 1.4 per cent increase on 2012. The Gross Value Added of the Creative Industries was £76.9bn in 2013 and accounted for 5.0 per cent of the UK Economy.
Further to this, the Creative Industries proportion of total UK GVA was higher than the year before, for the fourth year running.However, recent feedback from employers and specialist recruiters highlighted a number of key challenges for the sector – in particular the rapidly evolving skills needs.
This group aims to bring together a coalition of recruiters, employers, educators and professional bodies to debate current employment trends in the sector and provide a series of practical recommendations on generating sustained growth and employment in the industry.
