A year of impact

We have delivered for you in 2020 - here are some of our highlights

In your corner, whenever you need us

  • Our legal helpline has handled 12,000 queries in the last 12 months, helping you navigate the Coronavirus Bill, the Job Retention Scheme, SSP, Furlough payment, right to work checks, IR35 and much more. As the pandemic took hold, we added resources to meet increased demand from members.

  • We overhauled this website to make it easier for you to find quality content and support. 9,300 people visit our site each week - that's every business in membership visiting three times a week.

  • Our dedicated customer support teams dealt with more queries in the first half of 2020 than we had for the whole of 2019.

  • Our all-virtual conference brought together 1,000 professionals to explore the many challenges and opportunities facing our sector. We curated the most important lessons into digital guides tailored for recruitment leaders and recruitment consultants.

"REC membership is one of the few costs we do not scrutinise on an annual basis, because of the value and ROI is provides. We take advantage of a range of REC services - marketing insight, legal helpline, best practice and direction on some of the big issues we face. We gain significant benefit from the community of fellow recruitment companies we have built rapport with as a result of the REC meetings."

No one has your back like we do

  • In the first five months of the pandemic, we ran more than 60 hours of webinars and podcasts to help you understand what to do. We published the most important lessons in our COVID-19: Essential business lessons for recruitment leaders digital guide.

  • On average, we're in the national papers 10 times and on TV and radio 11 times each week, championing the causes that matter most to your business and outperforming all our nearest competitors in terms of our reach.

  • 1,000 people visit our COVID-19 support resources each week, which we update as soon as we hear new information from government.

  • We were the first representative on the Government’s Professional and Business Services sector council, and the first recruitment body to be appointed as one of the Government's Business Representative Organisations to support the national response to Coronavirus.
  • We fought hard to create the furlough scheme with other business bodies, and were delighted that our efforts were recognised by the Chancellor. We also won a seat at the table in government discussion on Brexit, trade and immigration, and the Apprenticeship levy.

"My team and I are looking forward to working more closely with the REC next year as we, alongside the recruitment industry as a whole, will no doubt have to continue to evolve and adapt due to the implications of COVID-19 and Brexit."

Professional body for recruitment

I have found that the information I get from REC, especially the jobs report, which I fill out every month, is really useful, because when I’m sat there in front of the clients, I can talk to them about real-time information. I now have access to the regional one which is great.
