Jobs Recovery Tracker

Research

In May 2020 the REC launched the Jobs Recovery Tracker, which aims to help recruiters, businesses and policymakers see how the jobs market is evolving as the economy recovers from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This research uses job postings data, provided by our partner Emsi, to spot signs of growth in different local areas and occupations across the UK. We will be updating this data regularly during the coming months to show where the hiring hotspots are, and what job roles are in high demand.

The latest Jobs Recovery Tracker reveals that there were 181,000 new job adverts posted in the first week of May 2021, giving a total of 1.53 million active job adverts in the UK. This followed 211,000 new job adverts in the previous week - a new record high since the start of the pandemic. As the recovery gathers momentum and lockdown eases further, businesses are becoming increasingly confident about hiring new staff.
