Jobs Recovery Tracker

Research

In May 2020 the REC launched the Jobs Recovery Tracker, which aims to help recruiters, businesses and policymakers see how the jobs market is evolving as the economy recovers from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This research uses job postings data, provided by our partner Emsi, to spot signs of growth in different local areas and occupations across the UK. We will be updating this data regularly during the coming months to show where the hiring hotspots are, and what job roles are in high demand.

The latest Jobs Recovery Tracker reveals that there were 140,000 new job adverts posted in the week of 5-11 April 2021. This followed 181,000 in the previous week - the highest weekly figure since early 2020. The three best weeks for new  job postings since the pandemic hit the UK have all happened since early March 2021, indicating an increase in hiring activity as lockdown restrictions are eased.
