All REC Corporate members must pass a compliance test to join us and stay in membership. It makes sure you know the relevant legislation and uphold the ethics in our Code of Professional Practice.
The compliance test is made up of a series of multiple choice questions covering industry legislation. The test can be completed over a 24 hour period, and takes around 45 minutes to complete. The number of questions in the test ranges between 30 and 57 depending on the type of recruitment carried out.
The test has been designed so that agencies only answer questions that relate to the type of business that they operate in. To pass the test agencies must achieve at least 80% and answer all ‘red flag’ questions correctly - these questions relate to the placement of candidates who work with vulnerable people.
Only recruitment agencies that have passed the online compliance test are able to use the REC logo, including within tender and marketing documents.
New corporate members have three attempts to pass within three months from the date they are invited to take the test - this will usually be when initial payment has been received and the relevant checks have been undertaken. The first attempt must be taken within one month of receiving our invitation. When you log into the test it will ask you if you are adopting REC’s contracts or retaining your own. If you wish to continue to use your own contract you’ll need to upload them so that we can check they are compliant.
