Allow the £40 billion recruitment industry to help carry the load of Industrial Strategy's jobs plans – REC

Press releases

Responding to today’s publication of jobs plans connected to the Industrial Strategy, Shazia Ejaz, Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) Director of Campaigns, said:

“The blueprint for the large-scale rebuilding of the workforce needed to deliver the Industrial Strategy is gradually coming into focus, with today’s announcements providing a clearer picture of how and where future demand will emerge. This shows employers that the challenge will not simply be training the workforce of tomorrow, but accessing the talent they need today. Government should allow the £40 billion recruitment industry to help carry the load of this economic transformation by connecting the right workers with the right opportunities, particularly as many of the sectors central to the strategy already depend on contracted workers. Training is essential, but employers also need access to experienced workers today. Government should engage early with the recruitment industry to ensure workforce planning reflects labour market realities and that businesses can access the people required to deliver these ambitions.”
