National Apprenticeship Week - Lisa's Story

Your recruitment career

As National Apprenticeship Week 2016 draws to a close, we couldn't help but want to squeeze in a bonus story! This is from Lisa Dunderdale from Crosby Employment.

What interested you in becoming an apprentice in recruitment?

I was a beauty therapist for 10 years and wanted a change. Being a single parent an apprenticeship seemed to be the best way forward for me and my daughter, so I could learn but still earn, which was important as I had to keep a property and bills up to date for me and my daughter

What do you enjoy most about being an apprentice working in recruitment?

I enjoyed going out to events, meeting new clients and putting my sales experience into practice to gain new contracts.

What's the number one thing you've learned while undertaking your apprenticeship?

To be organised!

What kind of goals do you have for your career?

I chose recruitment for new skills within an office but gained so much more. I love the buzz of recruitment, it's different everyday and high octane, so would love to actively work in a busy recruitment team and work my way up.

What one thing would you tell yourself if you were just starting out?

To be more organised with my time.

Would you recommend an apprenticeship in recruitment to others?

I would highly recommend, you gain so many skills and confidence.

We've certainly had a great week celebrating our recruitment apprentices, and we hope you have too!
