REC and TUC write to Minister on Employment Bill

Government and campaigns

Ahead of the Queen’s Speech, the REC and TUC have partnered on a letter to Paul Scully MP, Minister for Small Business, Consumers and Labour Markets. It reiterates the need for an employment bill to improve compliance and enforcement in the recruitment industry. This comes after reports that the long-awaited employment bill that would have led to greater regulation of umbrella companies and wider powers for enforcement has been removed from the government’s legislative agenda. In the letter we set out the need for the employment bill to be kept in the government’s plans as previously promised. We need the bill to help tackle wide ranging, and deep-seated issues in the labour market enforcement system. More detail on the anticipated content of the employment bill and its importance in labour market enforcement can be found here.
