Career Ready - Getting young people in to work

Advice for employers

Career Ready is a UK based charity that works to help young people kickstart their careers. Since 2002, Career Ready has operated a network of employers and educators to help young people from disadvantaged backgrounds develop the skills and experience they need to succeed in the world of work. In 2018/19, their network of 5,000+ volunteers from 1,000 employers transformed the lives of 69,000 young people in 400 schools through:

  • Mentoring
  • Paid internships & work
  • Placements
  • Skills masterclasses
  • Workplace visits
  • Careers in the curriculum
  • Career pathway tutorials
  • World of work assemblies

To ensure that their programmes support those who need it most, Career Ready aim to work with young, undiscovered talent that face disadvantages in education and employment because of their socio-economic background, ethnicity, gender, and geographic location.

In delivering their programmes to young people, Career Ready works with their partners across the UK, both in person and online. To facilitate the training and support for these young people, Career Ready are always looking for businesses to partner with - both in the development and delivery of training sessions, but also in offering meaningful work experience and future full-time employment.

Recruiters can work with Career Ready to use their expertise to provide training to help prepare young people for work. There are also opportunities for recruiters to work as mentors for young people or provide work experience or full-time employment after training has been completed. To find out more about career ready and how your business can work with them, you can contact them directly.
