Michael has over 24 years’ experience in the recruitment and staffing sector, with board level experience in a large corporates, SMEs and start-ups. He has launched companies and brands, managed sales operations of up to 100 staff, and been involved in an IPO and the raising of finance to support an acquisition strategy.
In 2005, Michael co-founded the Rethink Group, initially as Managing Director of the London operations. Rethink has grown in excess of 50% every year since its inception and now has over 240 staff and 10 global locations, generating £140m in revenues. Michael also set up and ran Rethink's international recruitment operations and most recently was responsible for Rethink's marketing services, providing clients with employer branding and digital recruitment consulting.
He currently provides NED, coaching, business consultancy and mentor services to the recruitment and staffing sector. His specialisms are building and growing recruitment businesses, marketing and branding, developing successful employer brands and attraction strategies, and setting and executing sales strategies. Michael is a ‘champion’ of the DPI ‘Strategic Thinking Process’, a pragmatic approach to developing and deploying effective business strategies for any type of organisation.
Michael has always led with the conviction that creating a great business and place to work are at the heart of sustainable success. A major part of this has been by actively supporting the adoption of the Institute of Recruitment Professionals quality standards within all the Group’s brands and the sector, as a key way to create a professional USP. Two of Rethink's brands have been recognised by the leading professional organisation for recruitment, winning awards for developing and embedding innovative and highly successful performance cultures - the ‘IRP Advocate of the year’ and the 'Best Company to Work for’ at the 2015 REC Awards.
Michael has served as a Non-Executive Director of the REC since 2013 and is a business mentor with Elite Leaders.
