REC expels 51 members after successful compliance assessment cycle

Press releases

The Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) has closed its latest Compliance assessment cycle, with over 97% of members having completed the assessment and retained membership.

As part of the REC’s drive to raise and maintain high standards in the recruitment industry, members are required to complete the REC Compliance assessment when they join and on a two-year cycle after that. The assessment is an assessment of the rules and regulations that recruiters legally have to follow, as well as the ethical principles contained in the REC’s Code of Professional Conduct.

Despite the unprecedented difficulties of the past two years, this latest Compliance assessment cycle has seen very high levels of engagement, showing how committed REC members are to professionalism and the highest ethical standards.

However, 51 member businesses did not complete the assessment by the deadline, and as a result have been expelled from the REC.

Lorraine Laryea, Recruitment Standards Director at the REC, said:

“The REC is committed to driving standards in the recruitment and staffing industry. The compliance assessment is a key tool that helps us demonstrate that our members meet the right standards when running their business. The past 18 months have been extremely difficult, but our members have responded brilliantly, with only a few not completing the assessment in time.

“I want to say thank you to all the members who took and passed the compliance assessment in this cycle. In doing so, you have fully supported the REC’s compliance regime, your fellow members and the wider industry by showing that you have the right knowledge and values to succeed.”
