Public Sector Resourcing - New Procurement Exercises Must Balance Cost-control with Safety and Sustainability of Supply
Press releases
REC Healthcare has today issued a note to members informing them of the forthcoming procurement exercise for the supply of temporary and fixed term Allied Health Professionals and Health Science Services staff. Members have also been informed of the procurement exercise to be undertaken for the supply of Nurses and Personal Social Services Staff. The Government Procurement Service (GPS) continues to be involved in consultation with REC Healthcare on the development of forthcoming framework agreements, most recently on the proposed framework agreement for the supply of locum doctors.
Chris Wilford, Policy and PR Advisor, says:
"We have developed strong links with the GPS and continue to be involved in extensive consultation on proposed resourcing frameworks. Any new agreements must balance cost control with safeguarding standards of safety and quality as well as developing opportunities for SMEs in line with Government commitments in this area."
"The announcement of the two forthcoming procurement exercises comes at a time when we are actively working with Government bodies to highlight the benefits of flexible staffing. We welcome the acknowledgment of the GPS and organisations such as NHS Employers of the vital role agency staff play in delivering public services. REC Healthcare will continue to feed in issues members raise and to monitor developments on the ground."
The two procurement excercises are independent of recent resourcing initiatives such as the Health Trust Europe LLP and London Procurement Programme AHPs and HSS staff procurement exercise.
