Congratulations to Recruiters Who Passed REC Awarded Qualifications in 2013
Press releases
Over the course of 2013 hardworking recruiters from Chesterfield to Kazakhstan and from Manchester to Malaysia sat an impressive 840 papers over 1,866 hours. In total 681 candidates sat the Certificate in Recruitment Practice exam and 589 (86%) of them passed! 147 units were taken of the Diploma in Recruitment Practice in 2013 and 108 received a pass.
The candidates who sat their exams in December will have received their results last Friday and one recruiter who was certainly celebrating is the top student Samantha Wilkinson of Rullion IT Plus.
Samantha said: “I was very shocked but pleased when I found out I was the top student and it’s a real relief to know that all of the studying paid off as learning all of the legislation was quite challenging.”
Samantha has been in recruitment for just over three years and got into the industry after hearing great things about recruitment. She said: “I had experience of working in a sales environment and knew people that worked in the recruitment who really enjoyed it. I spoke to an ‘rec to rec’ recruiter and thought recruitment sounded like a really interesting industry with lots of opportunities.”
Having built up some solid experience in the industry Samantha was put forward for the certificate as part of her organisations training programme. She said: “I was interested in taking the certificate as I don’t have much experience of working with temp and contract staff so I saw it as an opportunity to develop my knowledge, build a more rounded skill set and also to develop opportunities to cross sell services to the permanent clients that I am working with. Doing the certificate has made me more aware of the legal and ethical impacts of recruitment and I now feel that I am a lot more prepared when giving advice to clients and jobseekers.”
Anita Holbrow, Director of Member Services added: “Continuing your professional development is a vital part of building a successful career and ensures that you have all of the skills and knowledge that you need to be the best. Being top student really is an achievement to be proud of and Samantha really has set the bar high for students sitting the IRP’s certificate exam in 2014.”
