IRP Awards: The Final Word from the Class of 2013
Your recruitment career
We are one week away from the 2014 IRP Awards. So we're giving the last word to five of last year's winners on what makes a successful recruiter
When I first started I was almost too professional. But recently I've mellowed out a bit and tried hard to build friendly relationships. However, I still think professionalism has to be first and foremost - learning as much as you can about the company, making sure everything is clear both to clients, and candidates and so on.Vicki Walker, CK Group Permanent Consultant of the Year & Overall Recruiter of the Year
I had high billings, but I think the main thing is that I've maintained good relationships with key people. With this kind of work, you have to get to know the individual projects in great detail and to do that you have to have good relationships with contractors.Steve Perkins, Orgtel Temporary Consultant of the Year
We did things like setting up car sharing schemes for candidates and employees to make sure they arrived on time. We helped clients improve their green credentials. We went on site to deliver instructions to the temporary staff we had provided to ensure they knew the basics of the company and what they were doing, which helped to reduce training times for the client.Matt Fox, managing director at Dynamite Recruitment Solutions Best Client & Candidate Experience
Community-wise, the Amoria Bond Charitable Trust is funded by employees and directors. We select partners to fund houses in shanty towns in Peru and then we allow employees to go out there and help without having to take that time as holiday. 100% of the funds we raise go directly to the people on the ground.Daniel Daw, director and co-founder, Amoria Bond Best Contribution to the Community & Best People Development
I have 17 people and we have very strong targets that we're always working towards. You have to have an instinct for taking people forward in a changing world. In the public sector there are elections and things are always changing. You have to be able to move with the times.Jonathan Swain, Penna Executive Search Consultant of the Year
