There has been an increase in the visibility of transgender people in recent years. Since the enactment of the Gender Recognition Act 2004, 10,012 gender recognition certificates have been issued. This increased visibility has corresponded with an increase in enquiries the legal team has received related to transgender work seekers. Enquiries have ranged from questions about ID and right to work checks, the use of pronouns and rights to access facilities such as toilets and changing rooms which are consistent with a transgender work seekers gender.
