Yesterday afternoon, the REC Council appointed Neil Smith, the Managing Director of Kinetic Plc, as the its next Chairman.
Kinetic Plc is a mid-size agency which employs over 60 people and operates out of Manchester and across the North of England. It specialises in Manufacturing, Engineering, Nursing and Rail, and it also has a payroll outsourcing business called Pay Partners.
Neil has been on the REC’s governing body since 2006 and has held the positions of Vice Chair and Finance Committee Chair.
Neil said :
“I am delighted to take up the role of Chairman at the REC. It’s a real privilege to lead our industry's most important and significant organisation.
"I would like to thank the previous Chair Angela Masters, who did a fantastic job in modernising the organisation and ensuring the members were always at the centre of everything the REC does.
"I've seen the REC make giant strides in the last two and half years while at the same time supporting its members thorough a 30 per cent slump in sales. My job will be to support the Chief Executive and his team continuing the work of improving what the REC delivers to its members.
"I will focus on ensuring the Council continues to be fully representative and listens to its members. The Council’s role is one of direction, strategy and scrutiny. I will ensure the Council does all of these important activities to the best of our collective ability. We have a capable Executive team and a wonderful set of staff who do a sterling job everyday on behalf of the members. I see one of my most important tasks as being the bridge between the Council and the Executive.
"My personal agenda is to ensure the REC continues to punch above its weight externally. I am keen that we speak with authority on the importance of UK’s flexible labour market and that the REC explores where the jobs of the future will come from."
Kevin Green, the REC’s Chief Executive said:
"Myself and the team are looking forward to working with Neil. We know him well and believe his energy, drive and knowledge of the Industry will be a great asset to the REC."
