Released on 10 March 2010

Five REC members have been named in the Sunday Times/CIPD  prestigious 100 Best Companies to Work For list. Another five have featured in the newspaper’s 100 Best Small Companies to Work For.

This again demonstrates the vibrancy of the UK’s private recruitment industry and how those working within it can attain job satisfaction and personal rewards.

Kevin Green, the REC’s Chief Executive, said: “This is a tremendous achievement for our members to be performing so successfully with household names such as Admiral and Kellogg.   “It is a great advertisement for the recruitment industry that so many people enjoy their jobs and are given every encouragement by their employers to further their careers through incentives and personal development.

“The REC has its own role to play in helping recruiters by continuously striving for the professionalisation of the industry through the Institute of Recruitment Professionals (IRP) and the range of qualifications, training and business support offered through its Academy for Business to help them achieve standards of excellence.”

Office Angels comes in at number four on the list, the highest the Hertfordshire-based consultancy has been ranked in the past three years. The report says the staff at the secretarial and office support consultancy is rewarded for innovation as well as sales performance. Retaining and developing staff is one of its top priorities with teaching, training and mentoring provided by  the company's senior managers.

Pulse, the healthcare staffing agency based in Hertfordshire is also ranked in the top 50 which wins the Sunday Times special award for innovation in employee engagement. The staff can get funding and time off to study for professional work-related qualifications as well as taking part in training workshops and courses.

Randstad, the report says, weathered the storm of one of the biggest ever mergers (with Select Appointments) last year with the support of its engaged workforce. As a result, the staff feel very positive about the company’s future and cite good company communication as one of the motivating factors behind this.

Despite having to make redundancies during the downturn, the staff at Blue Arrow in Luton have enduring faith in the company, says the report, due the strong relationships they have forged with team-mates and managers.

At Pertemps Recruitment Partnership, team building activities such as sessions with inspirational speakers and family fun days have helped the company appear in the Top 100 yet again. Despite also having to make redundancies, the report highlights that  the workforce has remained committed to providing a great service to clients.

In the Sunday Times  Best Small Companies to Work For list,  REC members Practicus, Origin HR Consulting, Penta Consulting, Portfolio Payroll and Medicare First all made the ranks of the top 100.
