REC public sector campaign gets national Press coverage
The REC’s public sector resourcing campaign has greatly accelerated through extensive coverage in the national, regional and trade Press.
Kevin Green, the REC’s Chief Executive, appeared on BBC Radio Five Live’s Wake Up To Money, Radio Four’s Today programme and on BBC News 24 stressing how the current upward trend seen in Report on Jobs will be hindered if a new approach to public sector resourcing is not forthcoming.
With the signs that public sector recruitment is being affected now, Kevin highlighted the urgent need for radical reforms in public service instead of knee-jerk job cuts, a remark quoted in The Independent and Daily Telegraph.
The Report was also featured in the London morning papers, Metro and City AM; and several regional papers including the Belfast Telegraph and Aberdeen Press and Journal, both of which carried the REC’s views on the public sector jobs market.
Commenting on the media coverage for the campaign, Kevin Green said: “The level of Press interest has show that we were right to highlight this issue and gives us impetus for our conversations with public sector decision-makers about the necessity to take a long term strategic view of resourcing.”
