Mad Hatter’s Tea Party is top during National Temporary Workers Week

Released on 8 June 2009

Hundreds of recruitment agencies across the UK entered into the spirit of National Temporary Workers Week last week to celebrate the contribution made by their temporary, contract and interim staff.

Organised by the REC, among those participating in the activities was Isle of Wight agency WP Recruitment who got out the best china for a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party to which all its temporary staff were invited.

So impressed was the REC with the tea party that it has won the annual National Temporary Workers Week photographic competition for the agency coming up with the most original event. WP’s prize is a three hour mentoring session from the REC.

WP also held a Temp of the Month competition, staged an open day for people wanting to find out more about temporary work and also a Friday afternoon club for when its temps bring in their timesheets.

The agency also raised money for its charity, the Earl Mountbatten Hospice on the Isle of Wight.

WP’s Accounts Manager, Alex Marlow said: “The recession has hit the Isle of Wight hard so National Temporary Workers Week cheered us all up and gave us a well-needed boost.”

Anita Holbrow, the REC’s Director of Marketing, said: “The tea party typified the wonderful variety of events our members organised to celebrate the roles of their temporary staff  and say a well-earned thank you for the outstanding work they do. “
