REC/IRP - The Week Ahead

Released on 15 October 2012

Last week saw the last leg of the party conference season with the Conservative Party event in Birmingham.  Our fringe event in association with the PCG produced some lively debate and was a good platform for taking key industry messages forward with MPs and MEPs. The three party conferences have also showcased the findings of our Flexible Work Commission. Feedback from the Conservative Party conference is at: http://www.rec.uk.com/press/news/2215

Other highlights over the last week included the latest meeting of our Marketing, Media & Creative Industries sector group which focused on skills shortages and changing employer needs in the sector. On the media front, it has already been a bumper month with appearances on Newsnight, Sky News and BBC London Radio as well as coverage in the FT, Daily Telegraph, Daily Mirror, Evening Standards, City AM and on Reuters.

Looking ahead, key developments and activities over the coming week include a meeting with the new Employment Minister Mark Hoban MP, the latest meeting of REC Office Professionals, a sell-out equality & inclusion event in association with Diversity Works for London and our latest discussions with The Pensions Regulator (TPS) on auto-enrolement measures.
