We will be bringing together leading employers, recruiters and government officials to discuss current jobs market trends and the short and longer term outlook for jobs in the Midlands.
As well as providing a platform for feeding into key jobs market debates and for exchanging views with peers, our aim is to provide participants with insight and content to use with clients and for both short and longer-term business and workforce planning. Specific discussion topics will include:
What does the latest jobs market data show and what is the short and longer term outlook?
How will industrial strategy and the ‘Midlands Engine’ drive demand for new skills and opportunities for specialist recruiters? What sectors and job roles are most likely to be disrupted?
How are recruiters and employers innovating to address skills and staffing shortages? What is the latest insight from the REC Good Recruitment Campaign?
How can we feed into government initiatives to boost labour market participation, gender and race equality and opportunities for under-represented groups (eg ex-offenders, people with disabilities, older workers)?
How might the political and regulatory landscape evolve and we can we plan for different Brexit scenarios?
How can employers and recruitment professionals help build better bridges between education and the world of work?
What are the next steps for driving the ‘Good Work’ agenda in the Midlands?
The event will be hosted by the Department for Work & Pensions and form part of the REC/DWP Partnership Agreement that was signed by the Secretary of State Esther McVey earlier this year.
