Restart scheme partnership between REC and Maximus

Business advice

The REC is proud to announce the Restart partnership, a collaboration between the REC and Maximus.  At the 2020 Spending Review, the Chancellor allocated £2.9 billion for the new Restart scheme, which will give Universal Credit claimants who have been out of work due to the pandemic enhanced support to find jobs. The Government’s Plan for Jobs aims to help people across the country who have been directly impacted by COVID-19.

Commissioned by the Department for Work and Pensions, the Restart scheme will be delivered across England and Wales in 12 different Contract Package Areas. Maximus have won two large areas, North: South & West Yorkshire, Derbyshire, and Nottinghamshire; and the South: South & East London.

This partnership was formed in response to our members' recent feedback expressing recruitment challenges. We want to work with Maximus as one way to help ease those struggles, while also helping unemployed people back into work. This service will be bespoke to your company and sector, and to the individual. This is all included as part of your REC membership.

As a government scheme, Maximus can claim funding via their community partnership network to provide courses, training, and specific licences for jobseekers on the programme. This will enable them to develop transferable skills and candidates will be encouraged to consider changing sector where appropriate, in line with post-pandemic economic growth.
