Skills and productivity

The UK’s productivity – the output of goods and services per hours worked – has flat-lined since the 2008-09 recession and remains well below the levels of other G7 nations. Improving the UK’s productivity performance is crucial to unlocking the UK’s long-term growth potential and the government’s productivity plan sets out how it plans to do this. The REC continues to call for a comprehensive skills strategy, underpinned by good and inclusive recruitment practices ensuring that employers can access the talent they need to thrive.
