REC online compliance test
The Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) has introduced an online compliance test to assess an agency’s knowledge of the relevant industry legislation and the REC Code of Professional Practice (REC Code). By doing this REC can determine if new applicants for membership can become full REC members and whether existing REC members can renew and retain their membership.
The online compliance test is made up of a series of questions in a multiple choice format. These questions cover key industry legislation and in particular the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003 (the Conduct Regulations) and the REC Code of Professional Practice. When agencies join the REC they sign up to the REC Code which requires basic statutory compliance as well as higher ethical standards. Click here to take the test.
Taking the test
The test can be completed over a 24 hour period to enable busy recruiters to attend to any other urgent business and also to research any relevant test subject areas. We anticipate that the test itself will take no longer than an hour to complete. The number of questions in the test ranges between 30 and 57 depending on the type of recruitment carried out. To pass the test agencies must achieve at least 80% and answer all ‘red flag’ questions correctly (these are essential questions that must be answered correctly to pass the test and apply to those who place workers, who work with vulnerable persons).
The test has been designed so that agencies only answer questions that relate to the type of business that they operate in, for example if an agency only does permanent recruitment they will only be asked questions that relate to this.
