Cataphract is an umbrella organisation for the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) formerly known as the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB). We provide a regulated 'one stop' service giving recruitment firms the possibility to outsource their Pre-Employment screening and background checks to a trusted REC partner.
Our service enables employers to make more thorough recruitment checks, particularly for positions that involve regular contact with children and protected Adults.

DBS Checks (formerly CRB Checks)
Cataphract has been processing DBS checks since 2003 for Education, Care and Medical recruitment firms in the UK, Scotland and Northern Ireland. We truly believe that the have developed our system to make it as user friendly and simple for the client as possible. Our flexible approach means that the customer can have as much or as little involvement in the management of the process as they wish, from none to full. Regardless of the involvement selected, Cataphract staff quality controls every application to eliminate errors.
Especially for REC members, Cataphracts fee will be reduced from £15 + vat to £12 + vat per application.
The Disclosure & Barring Service operates several checks increasing in scrutiny and severity of offence
There is no fee from the DBS for Volunteers, Standard check is £26 and Enhanced is £44. DBS checks are zero rated
• Volunteer DBS (For CSR schemes etc) will be £12 + Vat = £14.40p
• Standard DBS checks will be £26 + £14.40 = £40.40p
• Enhanced DBS checks will be £44 + 14.40 = £58.40p
Cataphract provides DBS checks through the online portal names CRBcheck.info which has been custom built to make the applications process as seamless and automated as possible.
Cataphract have an established and successful Pre-Employment screening service which we have operated since 2003 for recruitment firms to better understand their candidates past, especially if they are working in secure government or registered environments.

Fees on a full background check are normally £150 however we will reduce this to £120 + vat for REC members.
