Council Election 2018

Nominations for the 2018 REC council election are open 

 

We are welcoming nominations for the REC council from exceptional leaders passionate about the future of the recruitment industry.

 

The REC council shapes the direction of the REC. Directors represent the interests of more than 3,500 corporate REC Members and more than 10,000 Individual Members of the IRP.

 

Nominations for the 2018 REC council election are open until Wednesday 2 May.  We particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic recruiters as they are under-represented on our board.

 

Am I eligible to be a director on the REC Council? 

There are six council vacancies to be filled: four corporate directors and two individual directors.

 

  • Corporate members can nominate an individual who is employed by them or acts as an officer for the company holding REC Membership.
  • Individual nominees must be full members or Fellows of the REC's Institute of Recruitment Professionals. Nominations must be proposed by three fully-paid AIRP, MIRP or FIRP members (excluding student members).


What is involved? 

You’ll  need to commit at least 10 days per annum toREC business. This will include:

  • attendance to council meetings (three half-day meetings and one lasting two consecutive days) to discuss strategic projects, review the REC’s accounts, and provide advice and guidance to the REC’s chief executive and senior team. You will ask probing questions to make sure the REC’s plans are robust and ensure they put members first.
  • time to read up on papers from all council and working board meetings
  • attendance at some REC events, eg summer and winter networking drinks, AGM, IRP Awards (optional)

Six council members who volunteer will also be elected toa working board, with some operational oversight of the REC and four additionalboard meetings per annum. All council members will be informed of decisionsmade by the working board, and the council are entitled to raise questions andcomment.

What happens next?

As part of the council election process, you can expect to be contacted by other REC members with questions on the key issues on which you are standing for election, and you’ll be subject to a Companies House verification check.
