REC response to appointment of new Employment Relations Minister
06 Feb 2012
Following a Cabinet reshuffle last week, Norman Lamb MP is the new Employment Relations Minister replacing Edward Davey MP, who has been appointed Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change.
Commenting on the change, Tom Hadley, the REC’s Director of Policy, said:
“We have built an extremely constructive relationship with Edward Davey and will be looking to build on this with the new minister. The civil servants that we have been working with on a number of key issues for the sector are remaining in place which will ensure continuity.
“Our immediate priorities when we meet with the new Minister will be to underline the positive role that recruiters play and the need to ensure that we have the best possible regulatory and compliance framework in place for the industry to prosper.
“Feeding in to the Government’s Red Tape Challenge will provide us with a great opportunity to do this. We will also be looking to ensure that the Department for Business continues to fight our industry’s corner in discussions with other Government departments on issues such as taxation, pensions’ reform and overall employment policy.”
