Code of practice
All members of the Nursing and Social Care Group are required to comply with the REC Code of Professional Practice.
Created in consultation with members and industry stakeholders, the Code was put in place by the REC to ensure that all members conduct their businesses ethically and to the highest standards and to promote good practice within REC membership. For additional guidance on complying with the REC Code of Professional Practice, please read our guide which provides you with a page by page checklist on what you can do to ensure your agency is working to best practice.
If you wish to discuss any aspect of the REC Code of Practice, please contact our Standards Team.
What do I have to do if I want to complain about an agency?
The REC accepts complaints and queries in regards to the standards of best practice by our members. It is a condition of membership that a member agency has in place a Complaints Procedure to deal with complaints. Therefore, before referring a complaint to the REC, we would encourage you to use the Complaints Procedure operated by the REC member, a copy of which should be provided to you by the agency concerned on request. Please click here for further details.
Complaints received
In 2007, the REC received eight complaints about members in the REC Nursing and Social Care Sector. The problems highlighted included problems with payment, issues around portability of CRB checks and receiving unsolicited mail despite requests to stop.
