New report highlights role for recruiters in raising AWD awareness amongst clients
A report launched this month by office recruitment specialists and REC members Tate shows that over 60 percent of employers are unaware of the EU Agency Workers Directive. The report also flags up specific client concerns over the management of a temporary and contract workforce.
Speaking at the launch event of the Tate Report REC Chief Executive, Kevin Green says:
"The REC is pleased to support member agencies that take the initiative through research projects and client events. The Tate report raises concerns that such an important piece of regulation is about to happen with so little understanding from employers. At the same time, this underlines the key role that recruiters can play by being ahead of the game and raising awareness amongst their clients."
Commenting on the findings of the report and on the importance of temporary and contract staff from an employer’s perspective, Julia Robertson, Managing Director of Tate, says:
“We all know that the use of temporary staff is vital for organisations who want to maintain their flexibility and competitiveness. It has always been thus, but today more than ever”.
The REC presented the recommendations of the Agency Work Commission to Government earlier this year. The CBI, British Chamber of Commerce and the CIPD all support the recommendations of the REC Commission. The Government's consultation on the UK implementation of the AWD is expected to be published after Easter.
REC members are provided with briefing notes on the AWD and other issues that can be circulated to clients. Effective management of a temporary and contract workforce is one of the themes of the REC’s recent joint research with the CIPD which focuses on how agencies and employers
