Second REC Agency Summit attracts more than 300 delegates
The REC is staging its second Agency Summit tomorrow (Thursday November 27) which has so far attracted more than 300 representatives from all sectors of the recruitment industry and delegates from leading employers.
The summit has been called to give all those involved in the industry a chance to air their views and provide input into how equal treatment for agency workers could operate in the UK. This follows the recent decision by the European Parliament’s Employment Committee to endorse the existing text of the EU Agency Workers Directive.
At the summit, recommendations to Government developed through the REC’s Agency Work Commission will also be finalised.
The event also includes the launch a new White Paper from the REC’s Future of Employment Working Group (FEWG) and research from the Industry Research United carried out in conjunction with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), the first time the two organisations have worked together on such a joint project.
Commenting on the Summit’s objectives, the REC’s Chief Executive Kevin Green said: “It follows legitimate concerns that the Directive could result in probably the biggest ever industry-wide shift in the provision of temporary, contract and interim workers. It is therefore an ideal opportunity for professionals throughout recruitment to explore how value can be added and brought to employers through ascertaining how best these regulations can work and ultimately benefit all.”
