Your views - New framework for public sector recruitment services
The Government Procurement Service (GPS) last month announced the creation of a new framework for the provision of contingent labour services. A follow-up meeting with the GPS is taking place this week and we would welcome additional comments and input from REC members.
Senior Government officials attended the REC Employment Policy Committee to get some initial first hand feedback from members and a note for all REC members was posted on February 9th (http://www.rec.uk.com/press/news/1981)
The framework is likely to include a neutral vendor service provider who will provide interim management and specialist contractor resources, sourcing requirements through the “open market”, ensuring all suppliers have a fair and equal opportunity to bid for opportunities. There will also be a number of managed service providers to provide operational and administrative resources.
The initial Government announcement is available at the following link: http://www.buyingsolutions.gov.uk/index.html. Additional views and feedback on the proposals can be sent directly to the REC’s Director of Policy & Professional Services Tom Hadley (tom.hadley@rec.uk.com).
The REC’s priority over the coming weeks will be to continue taking forward the views of public sector recruiters and to highlight the need to balance cost control priorities with a focus on quality and sustainability of supply. This is a core message of our ongoing public sector resourcing campaign: http://www.rec.uk.com/resourcing.
Feedback from this week’s discussions with GPS will be made available to all REC members.
