Member Update: DWP confirms to REC revised Pensions Automatic Enrolment starting dates
The REC was given a 'heads up' this morning by the Department for Work and Pensions that the Government is setting out a revised timetable for when businesses must start enrolling their staff in a workplace pension scheme.
Large employers - those with 250 or more workers - will not face any change in the date they are due to start enrolling their staff, however, small businesses with fewer than 249 staff will now be given additional time to prepare for the implementation of automatic enrolment.
Recruitment agencies are considered 'employers' under the new rules, and must provide pensions cover for their own directly hired staff, as well as temporary workers on their books. The revised automatic enrolment dates for all employer sizes can be found by visiting the DWP’s website: www.dwp.gov.uk
The REC is developing a wide-ranging support programme to help members prepare for new auto-enrolment measures. As part of this we have forged strong links with the Pensions Regulator, potential Pensions providers and relevant Government officials at the DWP.
