REC good practice code for Managed Services Providers coming soon.
The REC will be driving a good practice agenda on Managed Services issues in 2012. This will involve new research on the Managed Services market, the promotion of a specific Code of Practice and dialogue with Government Departments on how regulations and procurement procedures should reflect different supply models. We expect the Code to be launched next month – February.
Over the past 18 months, the REC’s Managed Services Forum has focused on issues such as how the AWR will impact on Master Vendor arrangements and on the implications of public sector reform for temporary staffing supply models.
The overall aim of the Forum is to ensure that Managed Services arrangements are sustainable and reflect the concerns of all agencies involved in supply chains. The REC is keen to assist MSPs demonstrate their commitment to good practice in their relationships with end-users, agencies and workers.
The REC has been in recent discussions with the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS) and the Government Procurement Service who are keen to support existing good practice in the provision of managed services. This will be taken forward throughout the coming year.
Commenting on the 2012 campaign, Tom Hadley, the REC's Director of Policy and Professional Services, says:
"Managed services arrangements are here to stay. The key is to ensure that they are sustainable and work for all parties involved. Let’s be clear, the REC can’t get involved in commercial arrangements: our focus is on driving good practice that involves and ultimately benefits second tier suppliers, end users and MSPs.
“Recent discussions with Government have confirmed that there is increasing recognition for the need to understand the different ways that recruitment services can be delivered. The REC’s ongoing client campaign will highlight Managed Services issues with employers and business organisation. This will provide an additional driver for the good practice campaign."
