IMA welcomes new Membership Criteria and Code of Practice
Following extensive consultation with the REC and the wider membership base of the Interim Management Association (IMA), the IMA has updated its Code of Practice and Membership Criteria. The changes reflect a maturing interim market and will provide further assurances to client organisations with regards to the minimum standards and competencies that all IMA members must adhere to.
As a subsidiary of the REC, IMA members already adhere to the REC’s Code of Professional Practice which is now recognised as one of the most comprehensive and robust codes of any UK trade association.
Commenting on the changes to the IMA Code, Rupert Dobson, IMA Membership Executive says:
“Quality assurance is the essence of the IMA. With many recruitment firms now claiming to offer interim managers, we thought the time was right to raise the bar when it comes to standards. Our members – representing the top tier providers in interim management - have consciously raised the bar and will now operate under stricter guidelines.
“Working in collaboration with our colleagues at the REC, we have updated our Membership Criteria and Code of Practice. This places quality and professionalism as the cornerstone of IMA membership. When a client or candidate sees the IMA logo on a members’ website, they can feel assured that they are using a highly vetted and responsible provider.”
Touching on the changes to membership criteria, Rupert Dobson concludes:
“Recognising the fact that many high quality firms operating within interim management are small, we have also developed a new Associate Membership offering which has the same Code of Practice and Membership Criteria as full IMA membership but reduces the requirement for a company to have operated for three years or longer and/or have a turnover in excess of £1.5 million.
"In an increasingly competitive market place, IMA members can hold theirs head up high knowing that they are operating to the highest professional standards.”
The updates to the IMA's Code and Criteria were made in parallel to the REC's ongoing compliance review which, following a member survey, is now entering a stage whereby members will be invited to take part in focus groups examining the changes in greater detail.
