REC overwhelmed by members’ feedback on Qualifications Review.

Released on 8 September 2010

Extensive feedback has been received from recruiters by the REC’s Academy for Business as part of its current Qualifications Review.

In July and August, the Academy sought the views of members and others working within the recruitment industry. As a result, more than 250 recruitment professionals have completed the REC’s survey, giving the Academy a comprehensive view of how it should go forward with its overhaul of the qualifications offering.

Commenting on the feedback received, John Cunningham, the REC’s Head of Qualifications, said:

“We have been absolutely delighted and overwhelmed by not just the quantity but also the quality of the responses.

“It demonstrated to us how seriously recruiters view the qualifications by taking the time to complete our survey. The questions included at whom the qualifications should be aimed, what skills and knowledge they should cover and how they should be assessed.”

John Cunningham added:

“These views now give us a clear picture on how the industry sees itself upskilling, developing and professionalising in the next few years. Our sincere thanks go to all those recruiters who have made a contribution.”

There have also been opportunities for members to air their views at REC On the Road’s Rethink and Rebuild Your Business and sector events, at focus group sessions, one to one meetings with members, and non-members contributing through Recruiter magazine.

The REC will now evaluate all the feedback in order to draft a new qualifications framework designed to meet the future needs of the industry.

Any questions or comments would be welcomed by John Cunningham, REC Head of Qualifications, who can be contacted on john.cunningham@rec.uk.com or 020 7009 2183.
