Agency Industrial Worker of the Year
Magdalena Batura
Nominated by Temp-Team, County Durham
County Durham-based industrial worker Magdalena Batura is in the running to be crowned One in a Million, the title given to the UK’s top temporary, contract or interim worker.
Magdalena has won the Agency Industrial Worker of the Year category of the One in a Million Award.
Nominated by recruitment agency Temp-Team in Newton Aycliffe, Magdalena registered with them two years ago when she came to England from her native Poland.
She did not speak much English when she first arrived and found it difficult to find work. But she was given a job as an electronic assembler with Mechetronics, an electronic manufacturer based in Bishop Auckland.
She started her placement there in June 2006 and was there until March 2007 where it was acknowledged she had a high workrate.
Mechetronics re-instated her last September and have trained her in all areas of factory work meaning that the company can always rely on her to help out whenever necessary.
She also cleans Temp-Team’s office and has assisted them with some translation work.
Julie Cummings, Temp-Team’s managing director, said: “Magdalena has not only been a major asset to our Newton Aycliffe branch but a personal help to myself; which in turn has allowed Temp-Team to move forward and meet the needs of our ever-expanding customer base.”
Helen Reynolds, the REC’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer, said: “Magdalena has really excelled herself since she arrived from Poland and is obviously extremely well-thought of at both the electronics company for whom she has been working and her agency.”
