Agency Social Worker

Pamela Stocker

Nominated by Synergy Group, London

Supported by Charterhouse Group International

Ealing social worker Pamela Stocker has been declared one of the UK’s top temporary workers.

Pamela has won the highly commended prize in the Agency Social Worker category of the One in a Million Award given to the UK’s top temporary worker.

Pamela who is originally from South Africa was nominated by recruitment agency, Synergy Group, for whom she has been working for four years.

While in South Africa, she decided to go into social work because she felt through it, she could make a difference and add value to the lives of others.

She resettled in the UK and trained as a Qualified Social Worker. For the past 36 years she has demonstrated total dedication and commitment to the London boroughs and clients for whom she has worked. She chose to work as a locum (temporary worker) because of the flexibility it would give her to approach each contract as “a unique piece of work”.

Jo-Elle Doran of Synergy Group said: “Where many social workers would have burnt out in the face of supporting clients for over 30 years with enduring chronic mental illness, Pamela has persisted relentlessly with her unique personal style which has improved the lives of many and touched all throughout her career.”

She added: “A social worker with this level of dedication and personal commitment to her clients outside the basic care plan process is a rare find and deserves acknowledgement.”

Helen Reynolds, the REC’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, said:  “Pamela has devoted her career to helping those whose lives have been blighted through mental illness and has shown total professionalism throughout.”
