IT Contractor
Joe O'Hara
Nominated by Microcom (Ern), London
Saffron Walden IT contractor Joe O’Hara has been declared one of the UK’s top temporary workers.
Joe has won the highly commended prize in the IT Contractor of the Year category of the One in a Million Award given to the UK’s top temporary worker.
Joe from Littlebury was nominated by recruitment agency, Microcom Recruitment based in Hertfordshire for whom he has been working since October 2004.
Through Microcom, he was assigned to global life science organisation, the Automation Partnership in Royston.
Since he started working for the organisation on its Concerto Development project, his role has grown and he now has the responsibility to undertake major changes and either authorise and reject proposals for alternative approaches.
His role also involves meeting customers and recruiting other staff to ensure the project stays on track.
Concerto Project Manager Keith Alexander-Buckley said of him: “Given that his original contract was as a Oracle PL/SQL developer, he has accepted the increase in scope of his role readily and has risen to every challenge with a minimum of fuss and very good humour.”
Michael Parris of Microcom added: “Joe has always specialised in contracting and offers superb flexibility. Joe likes to work on contracts and see a project through from start to finish and views himself as a leader in getting projects completed within the given deadlines.”
Helen Reynolds, the REC’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, said: “Joe has shown that the right approach to a complicated project can bring its own rewards both in terms of furthering his responsibilities and making himself invaluable within the team and well-thought of by customers.”
