Resolving Disputes

All recruitment agencies are governed by statutory regulations, REC members are further bound by the REC’s Code of Good Recruitment Practice.

If you feel that the service you have received from your recruitment agency falls short of the required standards, you have recourse through the following channels:

REC Member Agencies

REC has in place a comprehensive complaints and disciplinary procedure. If you are ever dissatisfied with a members' service or feel that they may be in breach of the REC Code of Good Recruitment Practice, let us know and we will offer advice and, where appropriate, investigate the complaint. Contact the REC Professional Standards team on: standards@rec.uk.com.

Agencies that are not REC Members

If  the agency in question is not a member of the REC, do make an attempt to resolve your dispute with them directly. If this is unsuccessful, your complaint can be reported to the Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate at the DTI.

Further information is available at www.dti.gov.uk/er/agency.htm or you can contact them direct on 0845 955 5105.
