Increase your interview to placement ratio in a tough market

Your interview to placement ratio is a good indicator around performance. As a rule of thumb many recruiters work to three or four, therefore needing three or four applicants to make one placement. Greater than four to one then recruiters would need to investigate what is driving this. But consider if you were able to increase your hire rate, how much extra revenue would that bring?
Many recruiters focus on finding a placement, choosing the candidate and getting an interview but little around preparing the candidate for the interview. This is a critical step in the placement process, having got your runner in the race it is essential that they will perform at their best during the interview. They need to stand out from the others and win the job.
Statistics show that 45 – 60 minute interview preparation can increase that important send to hire ratio by as much as three tofive per cent.
A counter argument to this could be the cost of a recruiter spending that hour with the candidate but there can be more cost effective ways of coaching your candidate for that all important interview.
Some Recruiters run Interview Master Classes and encourage their candidates to attend these where others prefer a self teach approach using On-line and Computer Based Training programmes.
