Key areas of responsibility:

  • Promoting the interests of REC members to politicians and officials in the UK and across Europe
  • Main spokesperson for REC liaising with press
  • Formulating REC policy in key areas including employment policy, healthcare and NHS policy, tax issues and procurement
  • Setting the strategy for REC professional standards
  • Managing the Employment Policy Committee and ad hoc working groups
  • Working with REC Sector Groups and Regional Directors on relevant lobbying initiatives

  • Assisting with lobbying activities including the organisation of meetings and briefings with devolved parliaments and various government bodies
  • Administration of various Ad-Hoc projects undertaken by the External Relations team

  • Managing the Diversity Forum

  • Work closely across all departments to maximise positive REC media coverage
  • Responsible for trade and regional press coverage in tandem with an outsourced PR agency who manage national and sector press
  • Assist and advise members on PR activities
