Members' Charter

REC Drivers Sector Group  members have a responsibility to:

  • Treat temporary workers with dignity and respect.
  • Adhere to the Code of Professional Practice prescribed by the REC, as well as the REC / FTA / RHA Joint Code of Good Practice and comply with relevant legislation when dealing with temporary workers.
  • Provide written terms of engagement to temporary workers.
  • Pay temporary workers a fair market rate. Ensure that payment is made promptly, efficiently and accurately.
  • Give relevant information to temporary workers before they take up an assignment (e.g., on induction and health and safety matters).
  • Take reasonable steps to ensure that temporary workers are suitable for assignments by obtaining information about clients' requirements and by proper selection procedures.
  • Consider ways of developing their temporary workforce and offering relevant benefits.
  • Create opportunities for regular feedback for temporary workers on assignments.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to equal opportunities.
Temporary workers have a responsibility to:
  • Be a good ambassador for their agency at all times during an assignment.
  • Accept the instruction and supervision of the client during an assignment.
  • Comply with the health and safety policy of the agency and client and take all reasonable steps to protect their own safety and the safety of any other person who may be affected by their actions on the assignment.
  • Comply with the current road transport legislation.
  • Promptly return a timesheet, signed by the client, to the agency at the end of each week.
  • Inform the agency, without delay, when they are unable to attend an assignment.
  • Be flexible and abide to existing practices.
  • Treat all colleagues and customers with respect.
  • Contribute to their own learning and development.
