The REC Construction Group was launched on Thursday 23rd February 2006 at an Event held on the prestigious HMS Belfast in London.

The former REC TEC Sector Group was broken down to form a separate Construction Group as well as a Group for Technical and Engineering Agencies. Following extensive consultation with members it was agreed that the split should take place to ensure that the diverse issues of the three sectors that came under the TEC heading (Technical, Engineering and Construction) continue to receive effective representation.

Trevor Rees of Knap Consulting and Chair of the REC Construction Sector Group commented on the launch of the new Group: “With the count down to the Olympics starting to gather pace and major projects ongoing all over the country it has become vital to form a dedicated group.”

“One of the major strengths of having a dedicated group is the lobbying power and we at the REC will seek to gain positive reforms that will benefit the industry as well as employers and jobseekers” stated Trevor.

Lynne Garcia is the account Manager for 4 Sector Groups and 3 Regions. In her role as Construction Sector Group Account Manager she is responsible for:

• Coordinating communications between the spokespersons
• Coordinating all the activities of the Sector Group
• Communicating to members the activities of the Sector Group.
