European Representation

Changes in policy come from Europe as well as the UK. The External Relations team makes regular trips to Brussels to increase the understanding of the UK recruitment industry among officials and MEPs.
We also lobby for changes to European legislation. To achieve these aims we work with our European sister associations through Eurociett who are the European Confederation of Private Employment Agencies.
The Agency Workers Directive
The Directive proposes to give temporary workers equal pay and equal rights to working time. The UK government has agreed to this with a derogation period of 12 weeks before equal treatment provisions apply.
The REC is interested to know from members and employers how they think the Agency Workers Directive will affect recruitment in the UK. philip.curry@rec.uk.com
REC members are advised to see our members-only campaign briefing on the Agency Workers Directive where there is also advice to pass on to clients.
