Promoting a fair regulatory environment for the recruitment industry
Members only briefing available here.
The REC aims to promote a positive business environment which allows recruitment agencies to operate to their full potential, without being burdened by unnecessary red tape.
We highlight areas where blanket regulation may be counterproductive by having an adverse affect on hard working and ethical recruitment companies and campaign for joined up approach to enforcement.
Agency Workers Directive
One of the most crucial issues facing the recruitment industry today was the announcement in May 2008 that the Government would be pursuing a deal on the Agency Workers Directive which will lead to equal treatment between temporary workers and permanent employees after twelve weeks.
Extension of the Gangmasters Licensing Act
The REC supports initiatives to address worker exploitation and the activities of rogue providers in the agriculture and food processing sectors. Those who break the Gangmasters Act regulations not only harm vulnerable workers but also undermine legitimate labour providers. For further information read our members-only briefing.
