The Recruitment & Employment Confederation - The Voice of the Recruitment Industry

Policy Issues and Campaigns

Recruitment impacts on every sector of the UK economy. The External Relations Team therefore engages with a wide range of key stakeholders to defend and promote the interests of the recruitment industry.

The REC is in regular dialogue with policymakers. Our goal is to influence the formation of policies, regulations and legislation that will both protect the rights and needs of the UK workforce, while ensuring that the UK is able to maintain and build upon the flexible, growth-oriented employment policy that has given us one of the most successful economies and lowest unemployment rates in all of Europe.

We achieve this through working closely with stakeholders within the UK on a number of steering groups, committees and consultation forums. A key component of this involves regularly contributing to Government consultations. Much of the public policy relating to employment law is now formulated in Brussels where the REC has a strong representation.

We work alongside the Industry Research Unit and the legal team who provide a full and comprehensive legal guide for REC members on all policy issues. We regularly inform our members of current events through our media centre.

However our policy is ultimately devised by our members through member surveys, our Employment Policy Committee, our Diversity Forum and through working closely with Regional Directors and Sector Groups. We actively encourage our members to get involved since we believe that it is through working together that we are best placed to strive to achieve our shared goals. It is through speaking in one collective voice which will make us stronger.
